LKCTB Fire Pit Lawsuit Update: Injuries, Recall Status, and Legal Options

LKCTB is among the tabletop fire pit brands identified in a 2026 nationwide burn-injury investigation as attorneys review claims involving severe burns from alcohol-fueled tabletop fireplaces and fire bowls. Available LKCTB product information describes a compact magnesium-oxide tabletop fire pit that uses 70% or 91% or higher isopropyl alcohol and includes a stainless-steel burner, roasting sticks, and burning cotton.

No lawsuit, recall, CPSC warning or MDL naming the LKCTB tabletop fire pit is reported. The product is listed as an ethanol smokeless mini fireplace for indoor and outdoor use. The listing names no manufacturer or importer.

A lawsuit has been filed over another tabletop fire pit brand. The suit alleges defective devices and a failure to warn of the explosion risk. The claim is only an allegation, and no court has ruled.

CPSC calls liquid-burning fire pits extremely dangerous in its category alert. A lawyer must review any claim on its own facts before anyone can say whether it qualifies.

Latest LKCTB Fire Pit Lawsuit Updates

August 13, 2026: CPSC Announces Brookstone Fire Pit Recall

CPSC Recall 26-687 covers about 48,700 Brookstone-branded tabletop fire pits. The importer received two reports of flame jetting and two injuries, including second-degree and third-degree burns. The remedy is a full refund [1].

CPSC cited the risk of serious burn injury or death from flame jetting. The notice names Brookstone units and does not name LKCTB. No fire pit MDL appears in the JPML report dated September 1, 2026 [2].

August 5, 2026: Anthony Trevino Sues Amazon over a Fire Pit Explosion

Anthony Trevino sued Amazon and the makers Colsen and Gusar in San Diego Superior Court, according to Times of San Diego [3].

The suit alleges a Colsen fire pit exploded on his balcony in 2025 and left him with third-degree burns and scarring. It also alleges the defendants failed to warn of the explosion risk. The suit does not name LKCTB.

July 16, 2026: CPSC Warns Consumers About Houswise Fire Pits

CPSC Warning 26-615 tells consumers to stop using Houswise Tabletop Fire Pits immediately. It cited more than two dozen reports and seven injuries, including third-degree burns [4].

The hazards are flame jetting from fuel containers and uncontrolled pool fires, where flames burn across pooled or spilled alcohol. The manufacturer has not agreed to recall these products or offer a remedy.

May 7, 2026: CPSC Warns Consumers About Northlight Fireplaces

CPSC Warning 26-473 tells consumers to stop using Northlight Bio Ethanol Portable Tabletop Fireplaces immediately because of uncontrolled pool fires and flame jetting from fuel containers [5].

CPSC said these hazards can result in serious or fatal burns. The products sell on NorthlightSeasonal.com and other websites for about $35 to $90. The retailer has not agreed to a recall.

December 19, 2024: CPSC Issues Alert on Liquid-Burning Fire Pits

CPSC Consumer Alert 25-074 urged consumers not to buy or use fire pits meant to burn pooled alcohol or other liquid fuel. The alert covers the whole category rather than one brand [6].

CPSC calls these fire pits extremely dangerous. It says they have been associated with two deaths and at least 60 injuries since 2019. It also says pour-and-ignite designs violate voluntary standard ASTM F3363-19.

October 17, 2024: CPSC Announces Colsen Fire Pit Recall

CPSC Recall 25-015 covers about 89,500 Colsen-branded fire pits. CPSC had 31 reports of flame jetting and flames escaping the concrete container, resulting in 19 burn injuries [7].

In two incidents, third-degree burns covered more than 40% of the victim’s body. The firm could not afford a remedy, so consumers were told to stop using the fire pits and dispose of them.

What Is Flame Jetting?

According to Health Canada, flame jetting can occur when fuel is refilled into the Glanzfeurer Tabletop Fire Pit while any flame or hot surface is present. A flame in those products can be hard to see [8].

Vapours inside the fuel container can ignite as the fuel is poured. That can shoot flames out or cause an explosion that propels burning liquid onto the consumer or bystanders. CPSC describes the same hazard for liquid-burning fire pits.

Who May Be Affected?

CPSC describes tabletop fire pits that use liquid fuel. Users pour isopropyl alcohol, ethanol or another liquid fuel into an open container. They then ignite the pooled liquid where it was poured.

These products are also sold as fire pots, miniature fireplaces or portable fires for indoor use. The LKCTB listing describes an ethanol mini fireplace.

The listing carries only its title, so it does not show whether the LKCTB unit uses a pour-and-ignite design like the liquid-fuel designs CPSC describes.

Whether a fire pit injury qualifies depends on the facts, and it takes an individual legal review of your own situation.

Reported Injuries or Damages

The findings below concern other liquid-fuel tabletop fire pits, not LKCTB. Regulator reports of injuries do not prove that a product caused every incident, and complaint allegations are kept separate.

CPSC Consumer Alert 25-074 says isopropyl alcohol, ethanol, bioethanol and similar liquid fuels burn with flame temperatures over 1,600°F. At those temperatures, a third degree burn can happen in less than one second.

The complaint by Anthony Trevino over a Colsen fire pit alleges a jet of flame hit him directly in the face and body. It alleges the jet left massive burns and scarring. These are allegations only.

Recall and Regulatory Background

CPSC issued a category alert on alcohol and other liquid-burning fire pits. It also recalled Colsen and Brookstone fire pits and warned about Houswise and Northlight products. CPSC Warning 26-364 covered Rozato tabletop fire pits [9].

Health Canada has issued its own advisories and announced the Nordic Flame recall [10]. No recall, warning or MDL names LKCTB.

A recall does not automatically establish liability or eligibility for compensation. Details on each brand are on our page about tabletop fire pit recalls.

Evidence to Preserve

At least one LKCTB listing is no longer available on its source site. Listings can disappear, so keep these items if you were burned:

  • The fire pit and its fuel container, photographed from several angles before you dispose of them
  • The order confirmation, receipt and a saved copy of the product listing
  • The packaging, manual and any warning labels
  • The fuel brand and where it was bought
  • Photographs of the burns and of the scene where the injury happened
  • Medical records and bills
  • Messages with the seller or the maker of the fire pit
  • The names of anyone who saw the incident

Filing Deadlines

Deadlines for injury claims come from state law, so the time limit depends on where you live and when the injury happened.

Some states start the clock on the date of the injury itself, while others start it when the harm was discovered.

Missing a deadline can end a claim even when the facts are strong, so ask a lawyer promptly about your own situation.

Potential Compensation

Compensation amounts vary by case. Past results do not guarantee future outcomes. Potential compensation may include money for medical expenses, lost earnings and other burn-related losses.

The San Diego suit seeks compensation for burn-related losses, and that is an allegation. No amount or outcome is predicted.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is There an LKCTB Fire Pit Recall?

An LKCTB fire pit recall is not reported. CPSC’s alert applies to liquid-burning fire pits in general. It tells consumers to avoid buying or using them and tells sellers to stop selling these products.

Can I File an LKCTB Fire Pit Lawsuit If I Bought It Online?

If your LKCTB fire pit was bought online, a lawsuit can name the seller as well as the maker. A San Diego complaint over a Colsen fire pit names Amazon and alleges its recall notices said only that the product “may not meet current safety standards.” These are allegations.

How Many People Have Been Hurt by Tabletop Fire Pits?

The number of people hurt by tabletop fire pits differs by brand. On April 2, 2026, CPSC Warning 26-364 said Rozato Tabletop Fire Pits have been associated with one death and multiple burn injuries.

What Does the Research Say About Fire Pit Safety Standards?

The research on fire pit safety standards comes from regulator guidance rather than a study. Health Canada’s advisory of August 5, 2025 says portable firepots must meet ASTM F3363-19 or an equivalent standard. Products that meet it “cannot hold a pool of alcohol.”

Have Tabletop Fire Pits Been Recalled in Canada?

Yes, a tabletop fire pit has been recalled in Canada. The Nordic Flame product was recalled on October 9, 2025, because it does not meet labelling requirements for consumer chemical products. The company reported 1,488 units sold in Canada.

Should I Stop Using My LKCTB Fire Pit?

Whether to stop using your LKCTB fire pit depends on its design. CPSC says consumers should immediately stop using and dispose of liquid-burning fire pits that violate a voluntary safety standard, and no notice says whether the LKCTB unit is one.
