Latest Yani Vape Cartridge Recall Updates

December 3, 2025: OCP Recalls Other NorCO Products

The Maine Office of Cannabis Policy (OCP) issued another mandatory recall on December 3, 2025. It covers other NorCO Outdoor Cannabis products, not vape cartridges [1]. The products were sold in Maine at 22 adult use retail stores between October 15, 2025 and December 2, 2025. Testing showed unsafe levels of yeast and mold, microbials and arsenic. The notice does not name chlorfenapyr.

November 13, 2025: OCP Expands the Recall to Three More Strains

According to its press release, OCP expanded the recall on November 13, 2025. The expansion added Yani vape cartridges of Apples & Bananas, Cherry Tartufo and Lemon Cherry Pie [2]. The cartridges were sold at five more stores, in Auburn (2), Kittery, Portland and Thomaston, between March 10, 2025 and October 23, 2025. OCP tested additional batches, and the tests found unsafe chlorfenapyr levels.

October 27, 2025: OCP Issues a Mandatory Recall

OCP issued a mandatory health and safety recall on October 27, 2025. It covered Yani Watermelon Chimera vape cartridges made by NorCO Outdoor Cannabis [3]. At that stage, the recall covered one strain and one batch. The cartridges were sold at 21 adult use retail stores in Maine between July 10, 2025 and October 16, 2025. Test results showed unsafe levels of chlorfenapyr.

What Is Chlorfenapyr?

According to the EPA, chlorfenapyr is an insecticide and miticide. The EPA first registered it in January 2001 as a non-food spray for ornamental crops in commercial greenhouses [4]. Chlorfenapyr belongs to a class of chemicals called the pyrroles. The EPA calls it a pro-insecticide, meaning its biological activity depends on activation to another chemical.

Which Yani Vape Cartridges Are Affected?

The recall covers Yani vape cartridges in four strains, each from its own batch:
  • Watermelon Chimera: 0.5-gram and 1-gram live resin cartridges, batch 1A40D0300006145000011115, sold July 10, 2025 to October 16, 2025

Why Were the Yani Vape Cartridges Recalled?

The Yani vape cartridges were recalled because OCP tests found the pesticide chlorfenapyr at unsafe levels in four batches, one for each of the four strains. OCP began its investigation after a consumer complaint about an adverse health reaction. The first recall came from OCP testing the one batch alleged to have caused that reaction. OCP does not state that the cartridge caused the illness. While the investigation was under way, the manufacturer, NorCO Outdoor Cannabis, voluntarily recalled more Yani vape cartridge batches from retail stores in Maine. The expansion followed OCP’s tests of those extra batches.
