Werner recalled about 122,250 Multi-Max Pro multi-purpose ladders after reports of falls. The lock can jam, which poses a fall hazard. The Consumer Product Safety Commission announced Fast Track recall 25-431 on August 14, 2025. The recall is not closed.
The recall covers 20-foot model ALMP-20IAA and 24-foot model ALMP-24IAA, sold at Home Depot from November 2021 through February 2024. Werner Co. imported the ladders, which were made in China.
Stop using the ladders immediately and register with Werner for a full refund after disposal. No class action or MDL names the recalled ladders.
Latest Werner Ladder Recall Updates
August 14, 2025: CPSC Announces Werner Ladder Recall
The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission announced a Fast Track recall of about 122,250 Multi-Max Pro ladders. Werner Co. imported the ladders, and the notice reports 18 reports of falls, including 14 reports of injuries [1].
CPSC tells consumers to stop using the ladders immediately and sign up with Werner for a refund, using the registration page named in the notice.
Which Werner Ladders Are Affected?
The recall covers two Werner Multi-Max Pro ladder models:
- Werner 20′ Multi-Max Pro Multi-Purpose Ladder, model ALMP-20IAA
- Werner 24′ Multi-Max Pro Multi-Purpose Ladder, model ALMP-24IAA
- Silver finish with a blue top and a long black rope in the back section
- Sold exclusively at Home Depot stores nationwide and HomeDepot.com, from November 2021 through February 2024, at average prices between $200 and $281 [2]
Look at the label on the side rail. It has an oval containing the word “Werner” next to the words “MULTI MAX PRO”, along with the size and model number.
Why Were Werner Ladders Recalled?
The Werner Multi-Max Pro ladders were recalled because the locking mechanism can jam and not fully lock into place, posing a fall hazard. CPSC gives no further cause.
Reported Incidents, Injuries, or Illnesses
Werner has received 18 reports of falls, including 14 reports of injuries. The injuries included bruising, lacerations, head injuries and fractures to the wrist, leg and ribs.
These are firm-reported counts. A report records that a fall and an injury happened on a recalled ladder. It does not prove what caused each fall.
What Should Consumers Do?
Follow these steps if you own a recalled Werner Multi-Max Pro ladder:
- Stop using the recalled ladder immediately.
- Check the ladder label for model ALMP-20IAA or ALMP-24IAA.
- Register at wernerco.com/recalls to get details on how to dispose of the ladder.
- Dispose of the ladder as instructed. Werner then issues a full refund by check.
- Call Werner toll-free at 888-624-1907, 8:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. ET Monday through Friday, or email ladder@realtimeresults.net.
- If Werner does not provide the remedy, use the CPSC recall complaint form.
- Report a fall or injury at SaferProducts.gov.
Legal Options
No class action or MDL over these ladders is reported [3]. The Werner recall alone does not show who is at fault or who qualifies for a claim.
A person hurt in a fall from a Werner Multi-Max Pro ladder can ask a lawyer to review the facts of the individual case.
Filing Deadlines
Filing deadlines come from state law. They depend on where you live and when the injury happened, so the date that applies can differ from person to person.
A missed deadline can end a claim even when the facts are strong, so ask a lawyer promptly to check which deadline applies to your situation and to compare it with the date of your fall.
