CPSC issued Warning 26-615, telling consumers to stop using Houswise Tabletop Fire Pits immediately [1]. It cited more than two dozen reports of flame-jetting, fuel leaking outside of the fire pit, and unexpectedly high flames. Those reports resulted in seven injuries, including third-degree burns. Manufacturer Furmia LLC has not agreed to a recall or remedy. The warning names no Sharper Image product.

February 13, 2026: Plaintiff Files First Amended Complaint

In Casselman v. Camelot SI, LLC, the plaintiff filed a first amended complaint against Colsen Fire Pits LLC, Lowe’s Home Centers, LLC and other defendants [2]. It alleges the Sharper Image fireplace exploded and burned her. On information and belief, it alleges Colsen, Gusar, NIKL, FLIKR and Seera designed and made the fireplace. The Camelot companies are not named as defendants in its body.

November 25, 2025: Court Dismisses Claims Against Camelot

The U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Texas entered an order that all claims by the plaintiff against Camelot were dismissed without prejudice [3]. The plaintiff had filed an unopposed motion to dismiss without prejudice. Her first complaint alleged Camelot SI, LLC licenses the Sharper Image brand. December 19, 2024: CPSC Issues Alert on Liquid-Burning Fire Pits

CPSC issued Consumer Alert 25-074 urging consumers to stop using alcohol or other liquid-burning fire pits and dispose of them [4]. It said sellers should stop selling them. CPSC said these fire pits violate voluntary standard ASTM F3363-19. It said they have been associated with two deaths and at least 60 injuries since 2019. December 10, 2024: Burn Injury Lawsuit Filed in Texas Federal Court

She says Lowe’s sold her the fireplace. October 17, 2024: CPSC Announces Colsen Fire Pit Recall

CPSC announced a recall, Recall 25-015, covering about 89,500 fire pits, including Colsen-branded fire pits previously manufactured by another company [6]. The recall followed 31 reports of flame jetting and flames escaping the container, with 19 burn injuries. The notice lists Sharper Image among the places they were sold online from January 2020 to July 2024 for between $40 and $90. CPSC told consumers to stop using the recalled products and dispose of them.

What Is Flame Jetting?

According to a CPSC commissioner statement, flame jetting occurs when a liquid-burning firepit is refilled in the presence of an open flame [7]. The statement says this causes the fuel to ignite and shoot out. The December 20, 2024 statement describes pool fires. It calls them “flames that burn across the surface of pooled or spilled alcohol and suddenly produce larger, hotter flames”. It names miniature fireplaces among the products it covers.
