Pool drain covers sold on Amazon under the Jeriflyer, TopHomer and Sviyatp names have been recalled, and CPSC has warned about Asixxsix covers. CPSC says the covers violate federal entrapment standards and pose a risk of serious injury or death.
No lawsuit or MDL names these brands. Two separate suits allege drain injuries, one against Hayward Industries and one against the City and Borough of Juneau.
If you own one of these covers, stop using pools with it. CPSC lists a refund as the remedy for the three recalls.
Latest Pool Drain Cover Lawsuit Updates
July 23, 2026: Sviyatp Pool Drain Covers Recalled
On July 23, 2026, the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission announced the recall of about 670 Sviyatp pool drain covers (recall 26-636) [1].
They were sold on Amazon.com from March 2026 through June 2026 at about $18. Pool owners, pool operators and consumers should stop using pools with the recalled covers immediately.
July 21, 2026: Juneau Suit over Lazy-River Drain Reported
On July 21, 2026, the Juneau Empire reported a suit against the city and borough [2]. The complaint, filed July 13 in the Alaska Trial Courts, alleges a boy’s finger was entrapped in a lazy-river drain.
The alleged injury happened at the Diamond Park Aquatic Center in July 2024. None of the allegations have been proven in court, and the suit does not name the recalled brands.
May 28, 2026: CPSC Warns About Asixxsix Drain Covers
On May 28, 2026, CPSC issued a warning about Asixxsix pool drain covers (warning 26-520) [3]. Amazon.com sold them from October 2023 through April 2026 for about $18.
The seller has not agreed to recall the covers or offer a remedy. They may also have been sold on other platforms and by other third-party sellers.
March 16, 2026: Hayward Industries Sued over Resort Injury
On March 16, 2026, parents sued Hayward Industries in federal court in Pittsburgh, TribLive reported [4]. The complaint alleges a defective Hayward drain at a Mexican resort wading pool injured their 3-year-old daughter.
The injury is alleged to have happened on February 16, 2025. The complaint is an allegation and has not been proven.
December 18, 2025: TopHomer Pool Drain Covers Recalled
On December 18, 2025, CPSC recalled about 1,040 TopHomer pool drain covers (recall 26-154) [5]. Amazon sold them from August 2024 through October 2025 for between $15 and $26.
The recall title lists entrapment and drowning hazards as the risks to swimmers and bathers who use a pool with the covers.
July 3, 2025: Jeriflyer Pool Drain Covers Recalled
On July 3, 2025, CPSC announced the recall of about 500 Jeriflyer 8-inch pool drain covers (recall 25-368) [6]. Amazon sold them from April 2024 through May 2025 for between $10 and $15.
CPSC found the covers do not conform to the entrapment protection standards of the Virginia Graeme Baker Pool and Spa Safety Act.
What Are Pool Drain Covers?
According to CPSC, drain covers for pools and spas must comply with 16 C.F.R. part 1450 [7]. That rule incorporates the entrapment protection standard of ANSI/APSP/ICC-16. Makers and importers must also issue a General Certificate of Conformity.
CPSC says the Jeriflyer, TopHomer, Sviyatp and Asixxsix covers violate the Virginia Graeme Baker Act. That is a finding by the regulator, and no court has made it.
Who May Be Affected?
You may be affected if you bought a Jeriflyer, TopHomer, Sviyatp or Asixxsix drain cover on Amazon and installed it. Pool owners, pool operators and consumers are the people CPSC tells to act.
Swimmers and bathers who use such a pool face the entrapment hazard CPSC describes. That includes children and guests who never bought the cover.
Check your cover and its packaging against the CPSC notices. They list the colors, sizes and codes of each cover. If someone was hurt by any pool or spa drain, an individual legal review can show whether a claim exists.
Reported Injuries or Damages
CPSC lists no incidents or injuries for the three recalled brands, and its notice on Asixxsix covers lists none. A recall notice is not proof that anyone was hurt, and reports are not proof of what caused an injury.
Two other lawsuits describe drain injuries. In the Hayward case, the complaint says drain suction at a Mexican resort tore a 3-year-old’s small intestine. Hayward moved to dismiss, arguing the incident occurred in Mexico.
In the Juneau case, the complaint says an 11-year-old’s right pinkie finger caught in a lazy-river drain. It alleges an open fracture, tendon damage and permanent impairment.
Recall and Regulatory Background
CPSC recalled the Jeriflyer, TopHomer and Sviyatp covers and warned about Asixxsix covers. Recall owners get a refund after they remove the cover and send the seller a photo.
For Asixxsix covers, CPSC says to remove, replace and dispose of them. Never sell them or give them away to others.

If you bought one of these covers or someone was hurt by a drain, keep these items safe:
- The removed drain cover and a photo of it
- The packaging or label showing codes such as “SV-SP1030-001” or “SP-1053-B”
- The Amazon order, seller name and purchase date
- Messages with the seller or Amazon
- Photos of the pool, the drain and the place where the injury happened
- Medical records and bills for any injury
- The names of any witnesses
