One individual federal product liability lawsuit, Borden v. Metabolic Meals, LLC, was filed on March 31, 2026, in the Eastern District of Pennsylvania. The court dismissed it with prejudice on September 11, 2026.

November 21, 2025: CDC Closes Outbreak Investigation
The CDC issued its final count of 21 Salmonella cases in 13 states. The agency had information on 19 people. Eight of them were hospitalized, and no deaths were reported.
The CDC said the outbreak is over and closed its investigation. The agency named no source of contamination for the illnesses [1].
September 5, 2025: CDC Announces Salmonella Outbreak Linked to Metabolic Meals
The CDC’s September 5, 2025 alert announced a multistate outbreak linked to the company’s meals, with 16 people in 10 states sick and 7 hospitalized [2]. Metabolic Meals recalled select meals delivered the week of July 28, 2025.
What Is Salmonella?
According to the CDC, Salmonella are bacteria (germs) that can make people sick with an illness called salmonellosis. People can get infected after swallowing the bacteria, and contaminated food is the source for most of these illnesses [3].

The CDC notice ties illnesses to meals under five lot codes, four of them with named meals [4]:

- Lot 25202: Low Carb Chicken Teriyaki and Vegetables
- Lot 25203: Sliced Top Sirloin with Roasted Peanut Sauce and Summer Vegetables

- Lot 25205: Black Garlic & Ranch Chicken Tenders with Roasted Vegetables
People who ate these meals and then became ill with Salmonella symptoms may be affected. Check your packaging for the lot code. Whether your own situation qualifies takes a legal review of your facts.
Reported Injuries or Damages
The Salmonella link in the complaint is an allegation. It is not a court finding, and the docket does not state the damages the lawsuit seeks.
The CDC’s final investigation update says the agency interviewed 15 people. Thirteen of them, or 87%, reported eating a Metabolic Meals prepared menu item. The CDC said this suggested people got sick from eating certain menu items.
Whole genome sequencing showed the bacteria from sick people were closely related genetically. It also predicted resistance to nalidixic acid and nonsusceptibility to ciprofloxacin in all 21 samples.
The CDC said illness with this resistance may need a different antibiotic choice. These are agency findings about an outbreak. Reports like these do not prove the meals caused every illness.
