What’s the Problem?
According to the U.S. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), this recall affects the following motorhomes:
- 2020-2021 Jayco Greyhawk
- 2020-2021 Jayco Greyhawk Prestige
- 2020-2021 Jayco Redhawk
- 2020-2021 Jayco Redhawk SE
- 2020-2021 Jayco Odyssey
- 2020-2021 Jayco Esteem
These motorhomes were sold with mounting brackets for the leveling system hydraulic pump and reservoir that may fail during use, allowing the components to contact the ground, NHTSA said. Contact with the ground may cause the pump and reservoir to detach or leak hydraulic fluids, increasing the risk of a crash.
Jayco Inc. is notifying owners and dealers will install a new support bracket, free of charge.
This recall began on January 31, 2021.

Illinois Couple Claims Camping World Sold Them Defective Jayco Greyhawk Motorhome
In September 2020, a couple from Genoa, Illinois, filed a federal lawsuit alleging that they unknowingly bought a faulty Jayco Greyhawk RV from a dealership in Roscoe, Ill.
Plaintiffs Joseph and Sherry Chavez purchased the 2020 Jayco Greyhawk 30X from Camping World for $94,758.63, including a $40,000 cash down payment. Since the day they drove the RV home, the vehicle has had troubles including a faulty transmission, refrigerator, levelers, air conditioner, and electrical system, the complaint states. The couple claims they had possession of the RV for a total of 21 days, compared to the 98 days that Camping World had it for repairs.
Furthermore, the Chavezes said the Jayco Greyhawk RV broke down on their first road trip with it, forcing them to get repairs out of state which took multiple days. The couple not only wants Camping World/Jayco to buy the motor home back from them, they also are seeking reimbursement for loss of use of the vehicle as well as unspecified punitive damages.
The lawsuit was filed in U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Illinois, Western Division, and names Camping World RV Sales and Jayco Inc. as the defendants.
