NTI Boilers Inc. and Ariston USA, LLC recalled certain HTP ELU Elite Ultra wall-hung gas boilers. The models are ELU-150WBN and ELU-199WBN. CPSC and Health Canada announced the joint recall June 5, 2025, and HTP notified installers in March.
Loose burner-door studs can let the door fail to seal, releasing flame or combustion gas – a fire and carbon monoxide poisoning risk. About 96 units in the U.S. and 9 in Canada are affected.
Anyone with an affected boiler should stop using it and arrange a free repair. The recall remains open, with no completion date announced, and no injuries have been reported.

Latest HTP Gas Boiler Recall Updates
June 5, 2025: CPSC and Health Canada Announce the Recall
The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission and Health Canada jointly announced a voluntary recall. About 96 HTP ELU Elite Ultra gas boilers were sold in the United States, and 9 more in Canada [1]. The agencies said a manufacturing defect in the burner-door studs can keep the door from sealing properly. That risks fire and carbon monoxide exposure. Neither agency has received reports of an injury connected to the defect.March 10, 2025: HTP Notifies Installers and Distributors
HTP notified installers, distributors and registered owners of the burner-door-stud defect. The defect affects units built between October 9, 2024 and January 15, 2025, ahead of the public CPSC and Health Canada announcement [2]. The notice began HTP’s free repair-kit program. It gave contractors and homeowners instructions to stop using an affected boiler and arrange service, three months before the regulators’ public recall followed.Which HTP Gas Boilers Are Affected?
The recall covers two HTP ELU Elite Ultra wall-hung gas boiler models. HTP sold them in the United States and Canada from October 2024 through early 2025:- ELU-150WBN: serial numbers 242770000111 through 242850000104
- ELU-199WBN: serial numbers 243240000051 through 250150000084
Why Were the HTP Gas Boilers Recalled?
The HTP ELU Elite Ultra boilers were recalled because of loose burner-door studs. The studs can let the burner door fail to seal, so flame or combustion gas can escape into the room. That combination poses fire and carbon monoxide poisoning hazards that CPSC and Health Canada say can cause death or serious injury. NTI Boilers Inc., the manufacturer in Canada, and Ariston USA, the U.S. importer, coordinated the fix with both agencies after identifying the defect. HTP’s own March 10, 2025 notice said the issue was found through the company’s continuous product-safety monitoring, ahead of the June 5 public recall.Reported Incidents, Injuries, or Illnesses
CPSC and Health Canada both report that no injuries, deaths or property damage have been linked to the burner-door-stud defect. Health Canada notes that as of the recall’s preparation, the company had received no incident reports in either country. CPSC and Health Canada issued the recall to address the burner-door-stud defect in the roughly 96 U.S. and 9 Canadian units before it could cause a fire or a carbon monoxide injury. Anyone who suspects gas or carbon monoxide is escaping from an ELU Elite Ultra boiler should treat it as a safety concern and follow the steps in the next section. Were you or a family member hurt by this product?

What Should Consumers Do?
Anyone with an HTP ELU Elite Ultra boiler, models ELU-150WBN or ELU-199WBN, should take the following steps:- Stop using the boiler immediately, especially if you smell gas, notice soot, or hear unusual sounds near the burner door.
- Check the rating plate on the boiler’s left side to confirm whether your model and serial number fall inside the recalled ranges.
- Contact your original installer, or a local heating and plumbing contractor, to schedule a free repair using HTP’s repair kit, Part No. 4270278.
- If you must keep the boiler running to avoid freezing, keep the front cover installed and a working carbon monoxide detector in the boiler room and the living space.

Frequently Asked Questions
What Should I Do If My Boiler Already Caused a Fire or Carbon Monoxide Incident?
If your recalled HTP boiler already caused a fire, carbon monoxide exposure or another incident, report it. Use CPSC’s SaferProducts.gov, Health Canada’s Consumer Product Incident Report Form, and contact HTP too, to arrange your free repair. What Are the Symptoms of Carbon Monoxide Poisoning?
The most common symptoms of carbon monoxide poisoning are headache, dizziness, weakness, nausea, vomiting, chest pain and confusion. A working carbon monoxide detector can warn you of dangerous CO levels, which is useful while a boiler awaits repair. Why Is Carbon Monoxide Poisoning Hard to Notice?
Carbon monoxide poisoning is hard to notice because its symptoms resemble other common illnesses, and MedlinePlus notes that a person who is asleep or intoxicated may be poisoned before noticing the warning signs. That is why HTP’s recall instructions call for a working detector near the boiler.Who Manufactures the HTP ELU Elite Ultra Boiler?
NTI Boilers Inc. of Saint John, New Brunswick, Canada, manufactures the HTP ELU Elite Ultra boiler line. Ariston USA, LLC of Providence, Rhode Island, imports and sells it under the HTP brand name across the U.S. and Canada. Why Does the HTP Boiler Recall Have Two Different ID Numbers?
The HTP gas boiler recall carries two ID numbers because CPSC and Health Canada each log recalls in their own national database. CPSC lists the case as CPSC No. 25-325, while Health Canada lists the same action as RA-77273. Both numbers point to one joint recall. Is the HTP Gas Boiler Recall the Same in Canada and the United States?
Yes, the HTP gas boiler recall is the same joint action in Canada and the United States. CPSC, Health Canada and Ariston USA lead it together. HTP’s Canadian sales ended in January 2025, a month before the U.S. window closed, and Health Canada tracks the case as RA-77273.References
