November 7, 2024: CPSC Announces Recall of Guava Roam Strollers
CPSC and Guava Family Inc. issued a Fast Track Recall notice on November 7, 2024[1]. The notice covers roughly 8,500 First Generation Guava Roam strollers, recalled after owners reported trouble with the brakes.
Guava Family said it had received reports that the brake lock could release on its own. The pedal also sometimes failed to engage. No injuries were reported. Guava Family began offering a free repair kit and installation instructions.

- Guava Roam First Generation, three-wheel, foldable strollers, Model No. 2205000, with a manufacture date of July 2020 through December 2021.
- A black frame with a gray “Guava” logo, plus a black seat, canopy and storage compartment.
- The stroller measures about 39 inches long, 25 inches wide and 43 inches high, and weighs about 28.5 pounds.
- A black label on the cross bar below the seat prints “Guava Family Inc.,” the model name “Roam,” the model number and the manufacture date.
Not every Guava stroller is affected. Only First Generation Roam strollers made in that manufacturing window are part of this recall. Later models are not included.
Guava Family sold the recalled strollers online at guavafamily.com and babylist.com from August 2020 through October 2023, for $500 to $550.
Why Were the Guava Roam Strollers Recalled?
Guava Family recalled the Roam Strollers because the brake lock could release unexpectedly, or the brake pedal could fail to catch when pushed down. According to the CPSC recall notice, that failure poses fall and injury hazards to children.
Strollers sold in the United States must meet the mandatory federal safety standard at 16 CFR Part 1227, which incorporates ASTM F833-21 and covers stroller brakes among other hazard areas[2].
