Plaintiff Shelly Wicklund alleges in the suit that she was burned by an explosion of food after she opened the lid of her pressurized CPC-600 series Cuisinart pressure cooker, because of defects in a lid-locking mechanism that the manufacturer claimed would make such an accident impossible.

Most cases involving product liability allege that a product was sold with design, manufacturing, and/or marketing defects, which typically refers to a company’s failure to warn of a potential defect associated with the device. In the case of Cuisinart pressure cookers, our attorneys suspect that patients may be able to take legal action in light of claims that Cuisinart failed to adequately warn doctors and patients about the risk of a defective locking mechanism, and the risk of the pressure cooker exploding without warning.
