What’s the Problem?
This recall affects 2021 CFMOTO CFORCE 800 ATVs with 800cc 4-cycle engines, according to the U.S. Consumer Products Safety Commission (CPSC)[1].
“CFMOTO has received three reports of the EPS failing and loss of vehicle control,” CPSC said. “Two injuries have been reported.”
Affected ATVs were sold in orange, blue, silver, and camouflage, with the “CFMOTO” logo in the center of the front grille. The model name is printed on each side of the vehicle chassis. Model year 2021 ATVs have the letter “M” in the 10th position of the vehicle identification number (VIN).
The recalled ATVs were sold at CFMOTO dealers nationwide from September 2020 through April 2021 for about $8,800.
If you purchased an ATV that is affected by this recall, you should stop using it immediately and contact a CFMOTO dealer to schedule a free repair.
This recall began on May 6, 2021.
The Dangers of ATV Vehicles
While ATVs are fun and useful, they can also be very dangerous. In 2016 alone, at least 337 people died and 101,200 people went to the emergency room because of ATV-related accidents, according to the CPSC.
Common ATV accidents include:
- Side rollover accidents
- Backward rollover accidents
- Colliding with objects or other vehicles
- Losing control at high speeds
- Overloading
- Tire blowouts, axle failures, steering issues, and other mechanical breakdowns
- Product defects
ATV Accidents Can Be Life Threatening
These accidents can cause severe and/or life-threatening injuries, including:
- Neck and back injuries
- Spinal cord injuries, including permanent paralysis
- Traumatic brain injury
- Fractured and broken bones
- Nerve and neurological damage
- Torn ligaments
- Wrongful death
