What’s the Problem?
This recall affects Arcimoto FUV motorcycles from model years 2019-2020, according to the U.S. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA).
These FUV motorcycles are equipped with electronic drivers in high voltage (HV) contactors that may malfunction, potentially causing them to overheat. If HV contactors overheat, the battery may shut down during use and cause a loss of drive power, increasing the risk of a crash, NHTSA said.
Arcimoto is notifying owners and dealers will replace the contactors, free of charge.
This recall began on December 7, 2020.

In April 2021, a purchaser of Arcimoto Inc. filed a class action lawsuit against the company for alleged violations of the Securities Exchange Act of 1934.
According to the complaint, Arcimoto announced that between 2018 and 2020, the company had received at least 400 pre-orders for its FUV.
Then in March 2021, Bonitas Research published a report revealing that Arcimoto had misled the public by exaggerating the number of its pre-orders. Specifically, the report claims that Arcimoto only delivered 5% if its pre-orders. The report further stated that Arcimoto filed a total production recall notice with the NHTSA in Nov. 2020, but “concealed safety concerns from customers and investors.”
