Ancheer e-bikes, model AM001907, were recalled because the lithium-ion battery can ignite, explode or spark. The recall notice warns of fire, explosion and burn hazards. February 16, 2023: UK Recalls Ancheer E-Bike Batteries

The UK Office for Product Safety and Standards published a recall of Ancheer electric bike batteries, PSD case 2301-0205 [1]. The notice says the product was recalled from end users. It also says the online marketplace removed the listing for the product.

December 8, 2022: Consumer Reports Covers E-Bike Battery Fires

Consumer Reports reported that Ancheer recalled 22,000 electric bikes in October 2022 after reports of batteries catching fire and exploding [2].

October 13, 2022: CPSC Announces Recall 23-007

The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission announced recall 23-007 of about 22,000 Ancheer e-bikes, model AM001907, sold online from January 2016 through June 2022 [3].

You may be affected if you own or used an Ancheer e-bike, model AM001907. The bike is black, has 26-inch wheels and shows Ancheer on the downtube. It has a water bottle shaped cylindrical battery. Reported Injuries or Damages

Ancheer received six reports of incidents involving fire, explosions or sparks. Four of those reports describe burn injuries. They are not court allegations. Reports are not proof that the battery caused every incident. The hazard comes from the regulator’s recall notice and is not a court or medical finding. The CPSC micromobility guidance says many lithium-ion battery home fires and deaths happen at night. They occur while batteries charge and families sleep [4]. CPSC recall 23-007 is the U.S. safety action on the AM001907 e-bikes. The remedy is a free replacement battery and battery mount from Ancheer. The UK recall followed on February 16, 2023. A recall does not prove liability, and it does not decide who is responsible for any fire.
