Deale International and the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission recalled about 2,900 Altafit af28 smartwatches. The recall began on August 7, 2025. HSN.com sold the gold and silver watches from March through May 2025, for about $50 each.

The smartwatch’s wireless charging pad can overheat and ignite. This creates a fire risk. Deale International has logged 39 reports of watches that melted, burned, or caught fire while charging. Six of those reports involved hand burns and property damage.

Stop using the charging pad right away. Contact Deale International for a free replacement. The recall stays open, and the CPSC has not announced a closure.

Latest Altafit Smartwatch Recall Updates

August 7, 2025: CPSC Announces Altafit Smartwatch Recall

On August 7, 2025, the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission and Deale International announced recall number 25-428. About 2,900 Altafit af28 smartwatches sold through HSN.com were covered, also reported by MyParisTexas [1]. No later update has been posted.

The notice also lists the incident reports and the recommended remedy, covered fully in Reported Incidents and What Should Consumers Do below.

Which Altafit Smartwatches Are Affected?

The recall covers the following Altafit smartwatches, each identified by these specific details:

  • Altafit af28 smartwatch, sold in gold or silver tone with a 1.68-inch color touchscreen
  • One bejeweled wristband and one mesh wristband were included with every recalled watch
  • “ALTAFIT FCC ID 2BHG8-AF28” printed on the back of the watch case
  • Sold with a wireless charging pad and charging cable in a golden case
  • Sold only online at HSN.com between March 2025 and May 2025 for about $50

About 2,900 of the smartwatches were sold in total, according to the CPSC notice. Independent news, including Gizmodo, also reported that figure after CPSC posted its notice [2].

Why Were the Altafit Smartwatches Recalled?

Altafit af28 smartwatches were recalled because their wireless charging pad poses an overheating and ignition risk. CPSC describes this as a burn and fire hazard.

Deale International and CPSC carried out the recall under CPSC’s Fast Track Recall program, a voluntary recall done in consultation with the agency. Federal law now bars anyone from selling the recalled af28 model.

The watch’s touchscreen and wristbands play no part in the hazard. Outlets that republished the notice, including MyParisTexas, described the same overheating hazard.

The CPSC notice names only the af28 model and lists HSN.com as the sole retailer, with no mention of another Altafit product or seller.

Reported Incidents, Injuries, or Illnesses

Deale International, the af28’s importer, has received 39 reports. The reports describe smartwatches that overheated, smoked, or caught fire while charging. Six of those 39 reports involved burns to a person’s hand, and some also caused property damage.

The recall notice, filed under recall number 25-428, does not give a cutoff date for the count or break the reports down by state. Reports are not proof that the charging pad caused every incident.

No deaths have occurred so far, and CPSC’s notice does not list any. Anyone hurt by the charging pad, or whose property was damaged, should keep medical records, photos, and receipts.

What Should Consumers Do?

Consumers who currently own a recalled Altafit af28 smartwatch should take these steps right away:

  1. Stop using and unplug the wireless charging pad now, even if it has not shown any signs of overheating.
  2. Do not plug the smartwatch back in to charge until you have contacted Deale International for a replacement.
  3. Call Deale International toll-free at 877-880-6137, Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. ET, to start a free replacement request.
  4. Cut the power cable on the unplugged pad, then send a photo of it to altafitrecall@thedeale.com to complete your replacement.
  5. Report any burn injury or property damage to CPSC at SaferProducts.gov or by calling the CPSC Hotline at 800-638-2772.

No lawsuit, class action, or MDL has been filed over the Altafit af28 smartwatch recall. The JPML’s Pending MDLs page lists no matching entry [3].

A product recall does not automatically establish liability or entitle a consumer to compensation. Schmidt & Clark reviews claims for burn injuries or property damage tied to this recall. A review does not promise eligibility or any result.

Frequently Asked Questions

What Should I Do If I Am Not Sure My Smartwatch Is the Recalled Model?

If you are not sure your smartwatch is the recalled model, compare it to the identifying details on the case and the recall notice’s description before assuming it is included. Checking those details first can save you a call if your device is not part of this recall.

Who Is Responsible for the Altafit Smartwatch Recall?

Deale International is responsible for the Altafit smartwatch recall. It worked together with the CPSC as the Fort Lauderdale, Florida-based importer that sold the watches through HSN. The af28 smartwatches were made in China, per the CPSC notice.

Can I Start My Altafit Smartwatch Replacement Online?

Yes, you can start an Altafit smartwatch replacement online instead of by phone or email. The CPSC recall notice lists thedeale.com/pages/altafit-safety-recall, or thedeale.com’s “Recall Information” link, as an additional way to request the free charging-pad replacement from Deale International.

What Should I Do If My Altafit Smartwatch Already Caught Fire or Burned Me?

If your Altafit af28 smartwatch already melted, burned, or caught fire, seek medical care for any burn first. Photograph the damaged charging pad and watch before you cut the cable. Those photos can support a free case review or an insurance claim later.

Were Any Altafit Smartwatches Sold or Recalled in Canada?

No Altafit smartwatches were reported sold or recalled in Canada. The CPSC notice covers only U.S. sales. It does not give a Canadian count or mention a related Health Canada recall, so the recall appears limited to the U.S. market.

Can I Get a Cash Refund Instead of a Replacement Charging Pad?

The Altafit smartwatch recall remedy is a free replacement charging pad rather than a cash refund. Consumers who want the replacement should follow the steps under What Should Consumers Do, since the notice does not describe a cash-refund option.
