Selective androgen receptor modulators, or SARMS, are synthetic drugs marketed as supplements for building muscle and strength similar to anabolic steroids, but without the risk of potential severe health complications, according to the companies that manufacture them. The main difference between SARMs and traditional steroids is that they purportedly yield their effects in a ‘selective’ manner, which means fewer negative side effects for users.

What is The Lieutenant?
The Lieutenant (LGD-4033) is a SARM that, according to Infantry Labs, “. . . [I]ncreases in lean body mass and decrease in body fat” and “. . . [I]ncreases in strength, well being (sic), as well as healing possibilities.”
What’s in it?
According to the product labeling, The Lieutenant contains the following ingredients:
4-((R)-2-((R)-2,2,2-trifluoro-1-hydroxyethyl) pyrrolidin-1-yl)-2-trifluoro Methyl) benzonitrile (LGD-4033).
What’s the Problem?
According to an October 2017 FDA Warning Letter, The Lieutenant and The Officer (another SARM manufactured by Infantry Labs) contain the SARMs Ostarine and LGD-4033, respectively. This puts the supplements in violation of the Federal Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act (FD&C Act), and delegitimizes them as valid dietary supplement, according to the FDA.

Most cases involving pharmaceuticals allege that a drug was sold with design, manufacturing, and/or marketing defects, which typically refers to a company’s failure to warn of a certain side effect. In the case of The Lieutenant, our attorneys suspect that patients may be able to take legal action in light of claims that Infantry Labs failed to adequately warn doctors and patients about the risk of severe liver damage and cardiovascular complications.
