Did You Buy Hard-Boiled Eggs from Costco? Here’s What You Need to Know

A growing Listeria outbreak linked to hard-boiled eggs has already caused severe illnesses and even one death. The nationwide recall of foods containing hard-boiled eggs has now expanded to include Kirkland Signature 2 Count Organic Hard-Cooked Eggs, sold exclusively at Costco stores and online.

If you or a loved one has suffered food poisoning after consuming recalled eggs, you may be eligible for compensation. Here’s what you need to know about the recall, the risks, and your legal options.

Costco Egg Recall: What Happened?

Jan. 21, 2020 – The nationwide recall [1] of foods containing hard-boiled eggs has been expanded to include Kirkland Signature 2 Count Organic Hard-Cooked Eggs, which are sold exclusively at Costco stores and online.

On December 18, 2019, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) notified Gainesville, Georgia-based Almark Foods, Inc., that its hard-boiled and peeled eggs in pails were the likely source of a Listeria outbreak.

This outbreak has caused at least seven severe illnesses, including one death. Two days later, Almark issued a recall for 10 of its hard-boiled egg products.

On December 23, the recall expanded to include at least 88 products sold under multiple brand names nationwide. Kirkland Signature Organic Hard-Cooked Eggs sold at Costco are among the affected products. Click on the link to view a complete list of recalled eggs [2].
