What’s the Problem?
This recall affects StyleWell Wood Windsor Dining Chair sets, according to the U.S. Consumer Products Safety Commission (CPSC) [1].
“The chair’s back can detach, posing a fall hazard to consumers,” CPSC said.
The recalled chair sets were sold in black, natural wood, red, and white and had 8 vertical backrest spindles. The chair seat base measures about 17.5 inches wide, 17.5 inches deep, and 17 inches tall.
The chair’s back measures about 19 inches wide and 18 inches tall from the top of the chair seat base. Only chairs without screw holes and wood screws on the rear underside of the chair seat base are included in the recall.
Affected chairs were sold exclusively online at www.homedepot.com from September 2019 through January 2021 for about $150.
If you purchased any chairs that are affected by this recall, you should stop using them immediately and inspect the chairs for missing screw holes and wood screws on the underside of the chair seat base.
This recall began on February 25, 2021.
Cost Plus Recalls Dining Chairs Over Fall Hazard
In April 2017, Cost Plus World Market recalled about 4,700 Stafford Windsor-style dining chairs [2.] over concerns that the legs on the chairs can break, posing a fall hazard to consumers. Cost Plus initiated the recall after receiving multiple reports of in-store display chair legs breaking and one report of the chair leg bowing out.
This recall affects wooden Stafford Windsor-style dining chairs with four legs. The chairs have a walnut finish and are intended for indoor use. Purchase order number 200519526, 400519526, 200519525, 400519525, 200524057, 200536057, 200536058, or 400524058 is printed on the UPC label attached to the underside of the chair seat.
The recalled chairs were sold exclusively at Cost Plus World Market and World Market stores nationwide and online at www.worldmarket.com from June 2016 through December 2016 for about $100.
The CPSC Recall Number for this item is 17-135.
