Update: Silva Sentenced to 11 Years in Prison for Sexual Abuse of 18 High School Students
Scott Silva was sentenced in June 2019 to nearly 11 years in prison for sex-related charges involving 18 underage female students at a Van Nuys charter high school, according to the Los Angeles Daily News [1.].
Silva was also ordered to register as a sex offender and to serve 5 years probation following his prison term, according to Frank Mateljan of the Los Angeles City Attorney’s Office.
The 44-year-old was convicted of 25 misdemeanor charges: 16 counts of child molestation, 6 counts of sexual battery, 2 counts of lewd conduct on a child and 1 count of false imprisonment.

What’s the problem?
During the 2-week trial, the jury heard evidence of Silva’s abuse, which ranged from lewd comments, to touching their private parts over their clothes, to skin-on-skin contact with at least 1 of the victims.
Silva worked at Birmingham Charter Community School, where the abuse was carried out starting in 2016. All 18 victims were underage females, investigators said. “The young victims in this case showed extraordinary courage by coming forward and reporting these atrocious crimes,” said Los Angeles City Attorney Mike Feuer.
Upon learning of the allegations, LAPD and the LA Department of Children and Family Services kicked off an investigation into Silva’s actions last November. The defendant was charged Nov. 16 and arrested that same day at his home on a $400,000 warrant. He’s remained in custody since officials said.
Silva is scheduled to be sentenced on June 19.
