September 27, 2012 – The United States Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) has today issued an announcement that ADS Inc., based in Bremerton, Washington, is initiating a nationwide recall of Cyclone Swing Sets due to the risk of the products breaking during use, posing a serious risk of falling. Owners of the affected Cyclone Swing Sets are urged to dismantle them right away and reach out to ADS to receive a complete refund or a substitute swing. As of now, there have been at least two incidents reported where Cyclone Swing Sets have broken while being used.

What’s the problem?

According to the CPSC press release, this recall involves green, blue, and yellow plastic disc-shaped Cyclone Swing Sets. The seats are approximately 12 inches in diameter, and have a cone-shaped plastic piece in the middle to hold the swing’s rope. These products feature the date codes “2012 5 18’ through ‘2012 6 25” on the underside of the swing in black. Cyclone Swing Sets were sold via Internet sales on ADS’s websites from May 2012 through June 2012 for about $15 without a rope, and $30 with a rope.

Cyclone Swing Sets were imported by ADS Inc., and manufactured by YCH Industries Corp., of Taiwan. ADS is currently in the process of containing consumers who purchased Cyclone Swing Sets affected by this recall.
