What’s the problem?
February 16, 2011 – This week, Toyo Tire U.S.A. Corp. and Nitto Tire U.S.A., Inc. announced they will be recalling nearly 5,000 of the following tires that were distributed to retailers throughout the U.S.:
- Toyo Versado CUV
- Toyo Versado LX II
- Toyo Open Country A/T
- Toyo Tourevo LS II
- Nitto Terra Grappler
The problem is with a rubber chemical mixture used in the manufacturing process that reportedly does not meet the company’s specifications. This may result in tread separation, which can lead to loss of vehicle control and a crash.
The tires in question can be identified by the “Made in Japan” stamp and the numbers “3810” or “3910” at the end of the DOT serial number, both located on the tire sidewall. Affected consumers are urged to have their recalled tires replaced immediately.
