What is the Status of Xeljanz Lawsuits?

To date, all of the lawsuits against Pfizer over side effects from Xeljanz (generic: tofacitinib) have been filed individually. A mass tort is an act or omission that harms or injures multiple people. Mass tort claims are not single cases, but instead a group of individual lawsuits alleging similar damages against the same defendant. As such, mass torts frequently involve multidistrict litigation.

What are Xeljanz Lawsuits Alleging?

Xeljanz lawsuits are alleging that Pfizer breached its duties by:

• Negligently failing to perform adequate safety research and testing before bringing Xeljanz to market.
• Failing to disclose the information that the higher dose of Xeljanz caused blood clots in the lungs and other severe health problems.
• Failing to warn that higher doses of Xeljanz may increase the risk of blood clots and cardiovascular injuries.
