What’s the Problem?
According to the U.S. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), this recall affects:
- 2021 Winnebago Revel
- 2021 Winnebago Vista
- 2021 Winnebago Adventurer
The power bed motor on affected motorhomes may experience an internal gear failure, causing the bed to extend prior to the safety strap engaging, NHTSA said. A bed that falls unexpectedly increases the risk of severe injuries or death.
Winnebago is notifying owners and dealers will replace the power bed motor, free of charge.
This recall began in December 2020.
Is Owning a Winnebago Worth it?
You can spend anywhere from a few thousand to a few hundred thousand (or more) on a brand-new Winnebago. While it may be tempting to splurge on all the bells and whistles, the most important thing is your family’s specific needs, and what you can realistically afford.
Buying a Winnebago that busts your budget is not conducive to an enjoyable experience, nor will taking out a loan for a new RV that you find isn’t right for your family’s situation.
In addition to the cost of your Winnebago, don’t forget to factor in the cost of insurance, vehicle registration, regular maintenance, plus storage if you’re not able to park the RV at your residence.
Other costs that should be budgeted for include campground fees, fuel, repairs, and gear, which includes anything from kitchen supplies to a high-quality sewer hose.
