What’s the Problem?
This recall affects RH Wine Barrel Chandeliers that consist of oak wine barrel staves and hoops and 5, 6, 8, or 12 “arms” with sockets for E12 candelabra bulbs or 6 “arms” for battery-operated flameless votives, according to the U.S. Consumer Products Safety Commission (CPSC) [1].
“Hardware parts used to hang the chandeliers can break causing the chandelier to fall from the ceiling, posing an injury hazard,” CPSC said.
The recalled chandeliers were sold at RH galleries nationwide and online from April 2009 through July 2018 and at RH outlets nationwide from October 2009 through March 2020 for between $80 and $3,500.
If you purchased a chandelier that is affected by this recall, you should prevent people from going into the immediate area underneath it and contact RH to schedule a free in-home repair or replacement.
This recall began on November 25, 2020.
Risk of Falling Chandeliers Prompts Nationwide Recall
In February 2015, Sea Gull Lighting announced a recall for about 9,600 chandelier lights after the company received at least 4 reports where chandeliers fell from the ceiling, causing at least $1,600 in property damage.
The screw collars that hold the chandeliers to the ceiling mount can break and fall, according to the CPSC. If struck by one of the metal and glass fixtures that can measure up to roughly 50 inches long, people could suffer severe lacerations and trauma injuries.
The recall affects 7 different models of the Sea Gull Lighting chandeliers including Brandywine, Laurel Leaf, New Verona, Newport, Parkview, Roslyn, and Somerton.
While there have been no reports of injury associated with the falling chandeliers, this could result in catastrophic injury or death if individuals are under or around the lights when they fall.
