What’s the Problem?

According to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) [1.], this recall affects Vornado VH2 Whole Room Heaters with a “JUL24” or “AUG24” date code and “TYPE VH2” printed on the silver rating label on the underside of the heater.

“The power cord can partially detach from the heater enclosure which can lead to cord damage over time, posing electric shock and fire hazards,” CPSC said.

The recalled Vornado heaters are off white and have thermostatic temperature control, automatic or continuous fan operation and two heat settings. “Vornado” with a red “V” behind it is printed on the front of the heater.

Affected heaters were sold exclusively online at Amazon.com from August 2024 through October 2024 for about $90.

If you purchased a Vornado Heater that is affected by this recall, you should stop using it immediately and contact Vornado for instructions on how to receive a free replacement heater.

This recall began on January 16, 2025.

The CPSC Recall Number for this item is 25-093.

Space Heater Safety Tips

  • Maintain Clearance: Keep space heaters at least 3 feet away from combustible materials.
  • Use Certified Products: Look for heaters with UL (Underwriters Laboratories) or similar safety certifications.
  • Avoid Water: Never use space heaters in damp environments unless specifically designed for such use.
  • Turn Off When Unattended: Always switch off heaters when leaving the room or going to sleep.

Proper precautions and awareness can significantly reduce the risks associated with space heaters.
