A Canton, Ms., establishment is now recalling the dietary supplement V-Maxx Rx because it contains undeclared sulfoaildenafil, which makes it an unapproved new drug. Sulfoaildenafil is an analog of the active ingredient in Viagra, and has the potential to interact with nitrates and lower blood pressure to dangerous levels. V-Maxx Rx is marketed as a male enhancement product, and was distributed nationwide via Internet orders.

What’s the problem?
May 25, 2012 – The U.S. Food & Drug Administration (FDA) issued a press release today informing the public that The Menz Club, LLC is currently conducting a recall of the following lot numbers of V Maxx Rx:
- Single Count, UPC Code 2802803561, Lot Nos. 101108, 101009, 101010, 101011
- Five Count, UPC Code 0972859402, Lot Nos.: 101108, 101109, 101110
- Ten Count, UPC code 0913251017, Lot Nos.: 301000, 301001
The Menz Club is recalling these products because they can pose a serious risk to consumers’ health. Sulfoaildenafil has been known to interact with some prescription drugs (such as nitroglycerin) and may lower blood pressure to dangerous levels. Consumers with diabetes, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, or heart disease often take other prescription drugs. Erectile dysfunction is a common problem in men with these conditions, and consumers may seek these types of products to enhance sexual performance.
Anyone in possession of V-Maxx Rx from the lot numbers listed above should discard it immediately or return it to the company for a full refund. To date, there have been no illnesses reported in connection with this recall. Consumers who have experienced any health problems that may be related to using V-Maxx Rx should contact their physician or healthcare provider.
