Children’s Tylenol Recall Update: J&J Chairwoman Resigns

September 17, 2010 – Colleen Goggins, worldwide chairwoman of the Johnson & Johnson Consumer Group for more than a decade, announced that she is retiring from her position on March 1, 2011 amidst a series of nationwide recalls. Goggins’ responsibilities included overseeing McNeil Consumer Healthcare, the manufacturer of Tylenol and other over-the-counter products included in the recalls over the past two years.

Also this week, the U.S. House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform, which is investigating the recalls, said it would hold a second hearing on Sept. 30 to examine the circumstances surrounding McNeil’s recall of more than 135 million bottles of infant and children’s medicines including Children’s Tylenol, Infant’s Tylenol, Children’s Motrin, and Children’s Benadryl.
