What’s the Problem?
According to the U.S. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), this recall affects:
- 2020-2021 Toyota Supra
- 2020-2021 BMW Z4
The weld between the fuel tank halves on affected vehicles may have been insufficiently welded, causing the weld to fail, NHTSA said. A failed weld may allow fuel to leak, increasing the risk of a fire in the presence of an ignition source.
BMW is notifying owners and dealers will replace the fuel tank, free of charge.
This recall began on December 18, 2020.
