Toyota is still working on a remedy for this problem, and will notify owners when it becomes available. The automaker issued owners an interim notification on Feb. 17, 2020.

Toyota Highlander Recall

Toyota is recalling about 40,000 Highlander SUVs from model year 2020 over a potential defect in the engine control unit (ECU) software which could cause the vehicles to stall, increasing the risk of a crash and severe injury or death. The recall began on April 24, 2020, and affects all Toyota Highlanders manufactured from June 24, 2019 to March 4, 2020. Toyota is notifying owners and dealers will fix the problem for free by flashing the recalled Highlanders’ ECU.
