What’s the Problem?
According to the U.S. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), this recall affects the following vehicles:
- 2020 Toyota Avalon Hybrid
- 2020 Toyota Camry Hybrid
- 2020 Toyota Camry
- 2020 Lexus ES 300h
- 2019-2020 Toyota RAV4 Hybrid
- 2019-2020 Toyota RAV4
Porosity in the engine castings of affected hybrids may result in cracks than can allow coolant to leak internally and/or externally, NHTSA said. A coolant leak can cause the engine to overheat and the vehicle to stall, increasing the risk of a crash.
Toyota is notifying owners and dealers will inspect and replace the engine including the engine block, free of charge. This recall began on April 6, 2020.
