What’s the problem?
The recalled taco seasoning contains cumin spice that was previously recalled by its supplier, Mincing Spice Co., FDA said. The company initiated the recall after some of its product tested positive for salmonella during routine testing by one of Mincing’s customers.
Taco seasoning products affected by the recall were distributed to select grocery stores in the following states and Washington, DC: AL, AR, AZ, CA, CO, DC, DE, FL, GA, HI, IA, ID, IL, IN, KS, KY, LA, MD, MI, MN, MO, MS, MT, NC, ND, NE, NJ, NM, NV, NY, OH, OK, OR, PA, SC, SD, TN, TX, UT, VA, WI, WV, WY.
Salmonella Symptoms
Signs and symptoms of salmonella food poisoning (salmonellosis) include:
- Nausea
- Vomiting
- Abdominal cramps
- Diarrhea
- Fever
- Chills
- Headache
- Blood in the stool

FDA Recommendation
To date, no salmonella infections or other illnesses have been reported in connection with the recalled products, FDA said. If you purchased any of the items being recalled, you should not use them, and either discard them immediately or return them to the point of purchase for a refund.
