What's the Problem?
This recall affects Subaru Forester sport utility vehicles from model years 2009-2013, according to the U.S. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA).
The recalled Subarus had their passenger frontal air bag inflators previously replaced under a prior recall using inflators of the same design, NHTSA said. Long-term exposure to high heat and humidity can cause the airbags to explode when deployed. Such explosions have caused injuries and deaths, according to the NHTSA.
Subaru of America, Inc., is notifying owners and dealers will replace the passenger airbag inflators, free of charge. This recall began on Jan. 7, 2020.
