The complaint, filed by Bodum in federal court in Manhattan, New York, Bodum claims that Starbucks “unilaterally” issued the May 1 coffee press recall without sufficient cause, as Bodum says the products were not defective and met required specifications.
“Starbucks recalled the presses even though laboratory tests found no evidence of product or design defects, because it had become ‘particularly sensitive to recall issues’ after paying large fines in an earlier recall,” Bodum said in a press release.

What’s the problem?
Starbucks, who said in the CPSC recall notice that the action was taken as a joint partnership between it and Bodum, issued the complaint after receiving at least 8 complaints from coffee press owners who claimed their plunger knobs broke off during use, causing deep cuts to users and others handling the equipment.
The exact amount being requested by Bodum is unknown. The lawsuit is: Bodum Holding AG et al v Starbucks Corp.
