What’s the problem?
The recall affects wall-mounted, folding shower seats made of teak wood slats joined together by support rods that extend from 2 wall mounting brackets, according to a recall notice issued Tuesday by the U.S. Consumer Products Safety Commission (CPSC). The products were sold via phone order and over the Internet from Jan. 2011-July 2018 for between $150 and $160. A limited number of the seats were also sold by Barclay Products Ltd. through its showroom in Gurnee, Illinois, between October 2013 and June 2017 for around the same price.
The recalled shower seats have brushed nickel, chrome or oil-rubbed bronze finishes on the support rods and bracket covers, and measure 16 inches wide by 13.5 inches deep, with a width of 11.75 inches between the centers of the wall mounting brackets. The SKU number 917726 is printed on purchase receipts and email order confirmations.

Most cases involving products liability allege that a product was sold with design, manufacturing, and/or marketing defects, which typically refers to a company’s failure to warn of a certain potential health risk. In the case of Signature Hardware shower seats, our attorneys suspect that patients may be able to take legal action in light of claims that the manufacturer failed to adequately warn consumers about the risk of the seats breaking, and severe injuries which may occur as a result.
