What’s the Problem?
According to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) [1.], this recall affects approximately 328,000 white and silver Samurai-branded mini smoke alarms, model number SM1.
“The smoke alarms can malfunction and fail to alert consumers of a fire, posing a risk of smoke inhalation or death,” CPSC said. “Three61 has received eight reports of the alarms failing to activate in the presence of smoke.”
The recalled Samurai Smoke Detectors were sold in packs of 2 or 3 alarms and came with lithium-ion batteries, adhesive stickers, screws, mounting plates and an instruction manual. “Smoke” appears on the front of the alarm below a button and “installed on” on the back.
Affected smoke detectors were sold online and at HSN nationwide from July 2020 through November 2024 for between $40 and $50.
If you purchased a Samurai Smoke Detector that is affected by this recall, you should stop using it immediately and contact Three61 for a free replacement alarm, including shipping.
This recall began on January 16, 2025.
The CPSC Recall Number for this item is 25-095.
