A woman from Madison, Illinois, has filed a lawsuit against Monsanto Co. alleging that the company’s Roundup weedkiller caused her to develop non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma.
Update: Illinois Man Alleges Cancer from Roundup
July 29, 2016 – A lawsuit was filed on the same day in the same court alleging the same injuries from Roundup as Lynda Patterson. Plaintiff in this court, a man from St. Clair County, Ill., was allegedly diagnosed with non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma in 2011 after using the herbicide for years. The case is: U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Illinois case number 16-C-823.
What’s the Problem?
July 28, 2016 – According to the suit, Plaintiff Lynda K. Patterson used Roundup herbicide on her garden for over a decade before being diagnosed with stage 4 non-Hodgkin lymphoma on August 12, 2014. Patterson holds Monsanto responsible for failing to adequately warn consumers of the potential health risks involved with using the weedkiller.
The complaint was filed July 20 in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Illinois, alleging strict liability, negligence and other counts. Patterson is seeking a jury trial and judgment in her favor for compensatory and punitive damages, along with interest, costs, attorneys’ fees and all such other relief as the court deems just and proper. The case is: U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Illinois case number 3:16-cv-00825.
