What’s the problem?
May 19, 2012 – The U.S. Food & Drug Administration (FDA) issued a press release today announcing that River Ranch Fresh Foods, LLC, is recalling retail and foodservice bagged salads because they may be tainted with listeria.
Bagged salads sold at the retail level were distributed nationwide and in Canada under the brand names River Ranch, Farm Stand, Hy-Vee, Shurfresh, and The Farmer’s Market. Foodservice salads affected by this recall were packaged under the brand names River Ranch and Sysco.
Both the retail and foodservice salads have ‘Best By’ code dates of either 12MAY2012 – 29MAY2012 or Julian dates of 118 and 125. These dates are located in the upper right hand corner of the bags.
To date, there have been no illnesses reported in connection with this recall. Anyone concerned about a listeria food poisoning illness should contact their doctor immediately. River Ranch Fresh Foods, LLC is working with the FDA to determine the source of the contamination. More information will be released as it becomes available.
