What’s the problem with RegenArouse?
February 10, 2012 – The U.S. Food & Drug Administration (FDA) announced today that Regeneca, Inc. is now recalling the following product because lab tests have confirmed the presence of undeclared Tadalafil, an FDA-approved drug used as a treatment for male erectile dysfunction:
- RegenArouse – Lot Number 130100 – UPC Code 816860010079 – Expiration Date 12/5/2013
These products were distributed as pink capsules sold in foil packets via Internet sales to consumers in the United States and Puerto Rico between November 29, 2011 and February 10, 2012.
RegenArouse Side Effects
The Tadalafil contained in RegenArouse may cause the following serious side effects:
- vision impairment
- changes in vision color
- hearing loss
- abnormal ejaculation
- dangerously low blood pressure
- heart pains
Other, less severe side effects commonly reported in RegenArouse users include:
- facial flushing (reddening)
- upset stomach
- flu-like symptoms
- ringing in the ears
The risk of these side effects is increased in individuals who take prescription medications containing nitrates, as RegenArouse may interact with the drugs and drastically lower the blood pressure. Patients with diabetes, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, or heart disease often take nitrate medications such as nitroglycerin. According to the FDA, erectile dysfunction is a common problem in men with these conditions, and consumers may take ED treatments like RegenArouse to enhance sexual performance.
Despite the fact that RegenArouse is an herbal supplement meant for women, the Tadalafil contained in the drug has been associated with prolonged erections and priapism (painful erections lasting more than six hours) in men.
Consumers in possession of the RegenArouse product affected by this recall are urged to discard it immediately or return it to the company for a full refund. This recall is being conducted with the full knowledge of the FDA. To date, there have been no illnesses reported in connection with this recall.
