What's the Problem?
The Protein Shoppe issued this recall after FDA testing identified the presence of undeclared sildenafil in the "Red-E" male enhancement pills.
Sildenafil is "a Phosphodiesterase-5 (PDE-5) inhibitor which is the active ingredient in an FDA approved drug used in the treatment of erectile dysfunction," FDA said. "The presence of sildenafil in Red-E renders it an unapproved drug for which safety and efficacy have not been established and, therefore, subject to recall."
The undeclared sildenafil may interact with nitrates found in certain prescription medications, lowering blood pressure to dangerous levels which could result in serious adverse health consequences to consumers with underlying medical conditions.
If you purchased any Red-E Male enhancement pills that are affected by this recall, you should stop using them and either throw them away or return them to the point of purchase for a refund.
Anyone concerned about a potential adverse reaction to sildenafil should contact their healthcare provider immediately.
This recall began on September 1, 2020.
