Update: Sunbeam Crock Pots Recalled for Burn Hazard
Sunbeam Products, Inc., is recalling nearly 1 million Crock-Pot 6-Quart Express Crock Multi-Cookers after the company received at least "119 reports of lid detachment, resulting in 99 burn injuries ranging in severity from first-degree to third-degree burns," according to the CPSC. This recall affects Crock-Pot 6-Quart Express Crock Multi-Cookers, Model Number SCCPPC600-V1, which were sold at Walmart, Target and other retail stores nationwide and online from July 2017 through November 2020 for between $70 to $100. This recall began on November 24, 2020.
What's the Problem?
The suit alleges that Plaintiff was using her Sunbeam Crock Pot Electric Pressure Cooker as directed when it suddenly and without warning exploded boiling hot contents on her, causing severe injuries. Plaintiff claims that the pressure cooker's safety features failed to work properly, and that the appliance was defectively designed.
