Update: First Salmonella Lawsuit Filed in Pasha Food Poisoning Litigation

September 11, 2018 – The first lawsuit in the salmonella poisoning outbreak linked to food from Pasha Mediterranean Grill in San Antonio, Texas, has been filed on behalf of Samuel Manago, a Navy veteran who was hospitalized at San Antonio Medical Center after consuming a Beef Shawarma plate at Pasha on Aug. 31. Manago is currently undergoing medical treatment, but is expected to make a full recovery.

What’s the Problem?

Metro Health officials in San Antonio have reported that they have received 301 phone calls about the Pasha investigation as of 4 p.m. Friday. Most of those calls (255 of them) were linked to the outbreak and came from people who said they became sick after dining at the Pasha location at 9339 Wurzbach Road.

The reports of food poisoning from the Pasha Mediterranean restaurant first began surfacing shortly after Labor Day weekend and have continued to grow in the week since.

Symptoms of Salmonella Food Poisoning

According to Collen Clark of Schmidt & Clark, LLP, “as in other food poisoning outbreaks, the number of cases reported to health authorities is likely just a fraction of the true number of illnesses associated with a given outbreak of illnesses.”

Signs and symptoms of a salmonella infection include diarrhea, fever, and stomach cramps for 4 to 7 days, with most otherwise healthy individuals resolving without seeking medical attention.

Remember, salmonella poisoning can be deadly. If you suspect you have become sick after eating at the Pasha Mediterranean Grill, you should see immediate medical attention.
