What’s the problem?

December 23, 2010 – Today, the FDA announced a recall of the following “dietary supplements” because their active ingredient may pose a significant health risk to consumers:

  • RockHard Weekend Lot Numbers: 100159 and 100260 sold as blister packs, 3ct bottles and 8ct bottles.
  • Pandora Lot Numbers: 100378 sold as blister packs.

These products contain an analogue of Sildenafil, which is an FDA-approved Erectile Dysfunction (ED) drug. Sildenafil is not listed on the label of these products.

Why is Sildenafil Dangerous?

Sildenafil can lower the blood pressure to dangerous levels if administered in too high doses or in combination with other drugs. Pandora, RockHard, and other drugs for erectile dysfunction work by dilating blood vessels and increasing the flow of blood to the penis. The danger in taking sildenafil and drugs with similar action is that dilation of blood vessels leads to lowered blood pressure.
