According to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission [1], this recall affects 20” Pacific Kids’ Bicycles, model numbers 201230TG and 201231TG.

“The bicycle’s handlebar can become loose during use, posing a fall hazard,” CPSC said. “The firm has received 23 reports of incidents of the bicycle’s handlebars becoming loose during use. Ten injuries involving bruising and abrasions have been reported.”

The Pacific Igniter kids bike has red with white and black colors and the word “Igniter” on the downtube, and the Pacific Bubble Pop has pink with blue and black colors and the words “Bubble Pop” on the downtube. The model numbers are located on the seat tube where it meets the bottom bracket, CPSC said.

The recalled Pacific Cycles were sold online and at Target stores nationwide from July 2020 through September 2022 for about $140.

If you purchased a kids’ bike that is affected by this recall, you should take it away from children and contact Pacific Cycle to receive a free repair kit, which will contain a bolt, nut, washer and grease packet with instructions to apply grease to the bolt.

This recall began on December 22, 2022.

The CPSC Recall Number for this item is 23-077.
