What’s the Problem?
According to a recall notice from the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) [1.], this action affects approximately 51,770 Northern Tool + Equipment Adjustable Swivel Shop Stools with Backrests.
“The welded connection point between the seat base and the stool post can break, presenting a fall hazard,” CPSC said. “Northern Tool + Equipment has received reports of 271 incidents related to the recalled stools, including 18 reports of injuries from falls, and 20 reports of falls without injury.”
The recalled shop stools feature the “NT” logo on the seat of the recalled shop stool. “Model No. 20230” and “Intradin Co., Ltd.” are printed on separate labels located underneath the stool’s seat.
Affected stools were sold online and at Northern Tool + Equipment stores nationwide from September 2020 through June 2023 for about $80.
If you purchased a Northern Tool + Equipment Adjustable Swivel Shop Stool that is affected by this recall, you should stop using it immediately and contact Northern Tool + Equipment to receive a free replacement stool.
This recall began on January 16, 2025.
The CPSC Recall Number for this item is 25-091.
