C.L. Mike Schmidt Published by C.L. Mike Schmidt

February 24, 2012 - The U.S. Food & Drug Administration (FDA) announced today that Nemschoff Healthcare Furniture is currently recalling pediatric hospital beds (bassinets) in order to correct potentially dangerous problems with the wheels (casters), door hinges and drawer slides. The bassinet's doors and drawers have the potential to open indadvertedly while in motion, and may cause falls, broken bones, and traumatic brain injuries to babies. This is an FDA Class I Recall, which means that there is a reasonable probability that the use of this product will cause serious adverse health consequences and even death.

Nap Nanny Baby Bed Lawsuit Update 12/10/12: Last week, the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) filed a lawsuit against the makers of Nap Nanny and Nap Nanny Chill baby recliners in response to the deaths of at least five infants that may have been caused by the dangerous design of the beds. The CPSC’s lawsuit marks only the fourth administrative complaint filed by the agency in the last 11 years, a statistic that highlights the seriousness of the situation with Nap Nanny Baby Recliners.
