Potential lawsuits are now being investigated for people who were injured by Nature’s Universe Thinogenics, a diet drug. An analysis by the FDA has determined that Thinogenics contains undeclared sibutramine, making it adultered and illegal to sell as a dietary supplement. Sibutramine was withdrawn from the U.S. market in October 2010 after it was linked to heart attacks, strokes, seizures and arrhythmia.

FDA: Nationwide Thinogenics Recall Issued Over Undeclared Ingredients
On April 9, 2014, the U.S. Food & Drug Administration (FDA) announced a nationwide recall for all lots of Nature’s Universe Thinogenics sold before February 6, 2014. This action was taken after FDA tests revealed the product to contain undeclared sibutramine, a banned substance that has been linked to life-threatening cardiovascular side effects. This ingredient makes Thinogenics an illegal product whose safety and efficacy has not been established.
Have Injuries Been Reported In Connection With This Recall?
To date, Nature’s Universe has received at least seven complaints from people who took Thinogenics. The company was reportedly unaware that the product contained sibutramine. After receiving notification from the FDA, Nature’s Universe began manufacturing a new version of Thinogenics that does not contain the illegal ingredient.
The new version of Thinogenics contains 45 diet pills per bottle, whereas the recalled formulation contains 30 capsules per bottle. Nature’s Universe distributes Thinogenics worldwide via Internet sales. If you have any of the old product in your possession, you should discontinue use immediately and return it to the manufacturer for a replacement bottle. Consumers who have suffered any health problems related to the use of Nature’s Universe Thinogenics should contact their doctor right away.
