What's the Problem?
This recall affects Mercedes GLB 250 vehicles from the model year 2020, according to the U.S. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA).
The window airbag in the A-pillar area on affected vehicles may not be mounted correctly, affecting its performance. "In the event of a crash that deploys the window airbag, the catch strap could disconnect and increase the risk of injury," NHTSA said.
This potential defect makes the recalled Mercedes GLB vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 226, "Ejection Mitigation."
Mercedes is notifying owners and dealers will check the mounting of the window airbag and correct it as necessary, free of charge.
