More Woes for Johnson & Johnson / McNeil – 40 million packages of Benadryl, Sudafed, & Tylenol were recalled on Jan. 15 due to insufficient cleaning procedures. McNeil has initiated at least 12 recalls in the past year.
What’s the problem?
January 18, 2011 – Johnson & Johnson / McNeil’s latest recall affects almost 50 million packages of Benadryl, Tylenol and Sudafed. Approximately 43 million of the packages were recalled because of insufficient cleaning procedures at J&J’s Fort Washington, PA, plant, while 4 million Rolaids packages were called back because of labeling omissions. The numerous recalls have made a major dent in J&J’s consumer-drug sales and severely tarnished the company’s once spotless image, perhaps permanently.
