What is Lexapro?
Lexapro is prescribed to treat depression and generalized anxiety disorder (GAD). The drug belongs to a class of antidepressants called selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRIs). These medicines work by increasing the activity of serotonin, a neurotransmitter, in the brain.
