LED Bear Lights Recall Lawsuit Details

The recalled product is the Room2Room LED Iridescent Bear Light, measuring about 7.5 inches in height and 9.3 inches in width [1.]. It features a USB plug with an on/off switch.

The model number “LD-0030” and the description “Room 2 Room” are located on a sticker at the base of the bear, while the UPC code “1922340368444” is printed on the packaging. The primary concern is that the power switch on the USB cord can overheat and melt, posing fire and burn hazards to consumers.

Reported Incidents and Consumer Guidance

To date, there have been 28 reported incidents of the USB cord overheating and melting. Among these, six cases involved burns to users’ fingers, and two instances resulted in property damage, including burns to a wall and a headboard.

Consumers are advised to immediately discontinue use of the recalled lights. They can return the product to any Five Below store or contact the company’s customer service for a full refund.

Refunds can be processed to the original credit card, provided as cash, or issued as store credit. Alternatively, consumers can submit a photo of the light with the cord cut to receive a check or store credit. Proof of purchase is not required for the refund.

The recall of the LED Iridescent Bear Lights highlights critical legal considerations regarding product liability and consumer safety. Manufacturers and retailers are legally obligated to ensure their products meet established safety standards.

Failure to do so can result in liability for damages caused by defective products. Consumers affected by such products may have grounds for legal action under theories of negligence, strict liability, or breach of warranty.

This incident is part of a broader pattern of recalls involving lighting products due to fire hazards:

  • NetZero USA High Bay LED Light Fixtures Recall: In December 2024, approximately 16,000 units were recalled because plastic pins securing the LED board could degrade, leading to fire hazards [3.].
