Update: Land Rover Discovery SUVs Recalled for Doors that Open While Driving
In June 2023, Land Rover announced that it was recalling nearly 30,000 Land Rover Discovery SUVs from model years 2017-2020 after the company received at least 75 reports of doors on vehicles opening while driving.
According to the NHTSA, the problem has to do with water leaking into part of the door latch mechanism, which can lead to a failure over time. If the latch doesn’t work, the door might appear to be properly closed even if it isn’t. There won’t be any warning on the dashboard that a door isn’t properly latched, either, NHTSA said.
To fix the problem, Land Rover dealerships will disable the vehicle’s keyless entry function.
The NHTSA campaign number for this vehicle is 23V393.
Land Rover’s own number for this recall is N798.

What’s the Problem?
This recall affects Land Rover Discovery vehicles from model years 2019-2020, according to the U.S. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA).
A loose contact between the battery ground stud and the chassis on affected SUVs may result in various electrical faults, potentially causing a loss of electrical power or the vehicle to shut down while driving, NHTSA said. If the vehicle shuts down or loses exterior lighting while driving, there could be an increased risk of a crash.
Land Rover is notifying owners and dealers will replace the ground stud, free of charge.
This recall began on December 17, 2020.
